Place Your Bets

We promise this isn’t the beginning of a sting. However, we are big fans of lady luck and are proud to support responsible play. Niagara Falls is home to 3 casinos (2 in Canadia and 1 in ‘Murica) and as the best cannabis retail shop in the city, let’s just say we know our way around the roulette wheel. A quick peruse through this article will tell you everything you need to know about having a royale experience at the casino. Next time you’re in town to visit Stok’d Niagara, why not stay for an entire weekend of chasing waterfalls, pampering, entertainment and a well-rounded time at the tables?

The Majestic Backdrop

A weekend in Niagara Falls is a good excuse to get a little dressed up, eat some great food, sit down at the table, catch a show and stroll around Clifton Hill. You can go for a Journey Behind The Falls, catch a view from the Niagara SkyWheel or take a boat tour of the Falls. However, if you’re a serious player nothing after sitting down at the table might happen. The good news is you don’t need to leave the casino to catch the stunning views, with Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara both offering Horseshoe Falls as the backdrop to your winning weekend. Whichever way you choose to spend your time here, there’s plenty to do on or off the felt.

A Historical Backdrop

As we’ve dug into in our recent article The Top 50 Things To Do In Niagara Falls, this region is stacked with historical importance. From over a thousand years of Indigenous people on the Niagara peninsula to Britain’s tussle with the United States in the War of 1812 to Churchill’s champagne infused Sunday drives to the development of Niagara Falls as a premier tourist destination, we are full of history.

Memorable Events: Milestones in the Casino’s Journey

In the mid 1990s the Ontario Government announced plans for casinos in Niagara Falls. Casino Niagara was the first to open in Niagara Falls in 1996. Originally conceived as a temporary establishment until Fallsview could open, it remained as one of the two gaming attractions in Niagara Falls. Ontario was once known for its prudishness around, among other things, swearing on the Sabbath and games of chance. However, once we were allowed to shop on Sundays things began to open up.

Niagara Falls Casinos: A Gamblers’ Paradise

The opportunities to take on the house are endless in Niagara Falls. Does Niagara Falls have 2 casinos? Not exactly. Obviously play within your limits but if you’re here to roll the dice, we have 3 world class casinos to do it. Poker rooms, slots for days and more versions of Black Jack then we even knew existed await you. Remember it’s all for fun so if you do beat the odds, take your money and avoid betting on Meadow Gold in the fifth.

Casino Niagara

This place most resembles a place Danny Ocean would be found (if he wasn’t banned). Some folks have asked is Casino Niagara and Fallsview the same? While they are both owned by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) they are about 20-minutes walk away and offer different gaming and entertainment options. Casino Niagara has no fancy shops, just a gaming paradise. You can bet on the big four (Curling, Tennis, Golf and Cricket) as well as the lesser known ones like UFC, hockey and football. In addition to the table games like roulette (remember, always bet on black), Casino War and Bahama Bonus, Casino Niagara also is home to the Poker Room. Daily games begin at noon and don’t stop till 4am. Bring your alligator blood, hang around but please don’t splash the pot

Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort

If Casino Niagara is old Vegas, Fallsview is definitely new Vegas. Designer shops, 20 restaurants and a spa to massage away any losses, Fallsview has it all. The accommodations are top notch and you can also get all your cannabis needs met by Stok’d Niagara’s same-day weed delivery service. Of course the gaming is on point too. Baccarat, Pai Gow and Black Jack of all types are only some of the ways to gamble. Unfortunately, the answer to the question, “Do I get free drinks at Fallsview Casino?” is no. However you can order drinks at most tables. You can also bet on the ponies or the only sport where smoking is was encouraged

Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino

A short drive across the bridge to Niagara Falls NY, Seneca offers gaming, a world class resort, shopping, restaurants and golf. While our deep Canadian pride precludes us from gushing too much, there’s no denying that Seneca is a great place to gamble and chill.

Beyond Gaming: Entertainment Galore

Of course gaming is only one aspect of fun to be had. The OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino has some of the best music, comedy and themed events this side of Reno. While you don’t need to wear a tuxedo with the bow tie undone and hanging just so, you will get an incredible night out once you’re finished counting cards at the blackjack table (KIDDING!!! Seriously don’t do that).

A Culinary Journey

First things first, the food! Of course if you’ve already read Unleash Your Tastebuds: The Ultimate Food Lover’s Guide to Niagara Falls Restaurants you done know how great the food is. However if you’re more into staying put at the Fallsview Hotel and Resort or Casino Niagara there are food options aplenty. Surf ‘n Turf, Italian, Asian, Pub food or quick service restaurants are designed to satisfy whatever culinary craving you’ve got.

Live Music

In the second half of 2023 alone you can (or could have, depending on when you read this) see(n): The Gypsy Kings, Kane Brown, Dane + Shay, Miss Patti LaBelle, Machine Gun Kelly, Theresa Caputo, Old Dominion Rod Stewart (yes that one), Motown legend Smokey Robinson, Footloose’s Kenny Loggins, Canada’s favourite crooner, Paul Anka, The Commodores (Minus Lionel Ritchie 😕), Gin Blossoms team up with Sugar Ray (!) and Life is a freaking highway, Tom Cochrane! We think you’ll agree this is an all-star lineup. It might be a little heavy on the boomer/gen-xer acts but that’s just what the kids call retro 😂.

Comedy Nights

If stand up comedy is your thing, the OLG Stage is stacked with funny people. Look neither the shows nor these clips are all safe for work but we’re adults here. Legendary Bill Burr, Theo Von, Penn & Teller, Gabriel Iglasius (aka Fluffy), Andrew Shulz (don’t sit in the front row!) and current arena comic Tom Segura, are some of the most popular comedians on the circuit. They will all be doing shows in Niagara Falls in the second half of 2023. No kidding these are the cream of the stand up crop, many of who also have award winning podcasts as well.

Themed Events

Both Fallsview and Casino Niagara offer themed events and promotions that you’ll want to check out. For example there’s a car giveaway called Drive Into Summer, no purchase required type thing. There’s also an Outdoor Food and Drink Market every Thursday during the summer. Don’t sleep on the Avalon Theatre, a more intimate space at Fallsview local for great shows like the Prince tribute Purple Reign, the homage show, One Vision of Queen or the hilarious Anejelah Johnson-Reyes

Hotel and Resort

Fallsview isn’t just for the gamblers. Not by a long shot!

Damara Day Spa offers head-to-toe pampering while the hotel has luxurious rooms with impeccable views of the Falls.

Boutique Shopping

Apart from the incredible shopping experiences in Niagara Falls (including Stok’d Niagara with killer merch and a giant beaver, ahem) Fallsview also has 18 designer stores. Jewellery from Swarovski, leather from Danier or apparel from Roots, you can get some serious retail therapy!
